Thank you for installing our order tagging app for Shopify. In this article, we'll cover the steps you need to take to get up and running in the shortest time possible.

Deciding What to Tag

While the initial reaction might be to add as many tags as possible to your orders, we've found it works best to start small and gradually add a couple of tagging rules at a time. 

If you're not sure where to start, we recommend heading to the Rule Library. Here, we can see a list of pre-made rules to address common needs. A few examples of these rules are:

• Flagging orders with a high risk level
• Identifying orders with an out-of-stock (or low-stock) product
• Tagging orders that could be combined to save shipping

Configuring and Testing Your Rule

Once you've chosen a rule from the Rule Library, you have the option to configure and test it before launching it. You can rename the rule, adjust the conditions that trigger the rule, and more.

One thing we like to point out is the importance of testing your rule before launching it. When you're editing a rule, there's a box on the right side of the page that allows you to enter an order number from Shopify to test the rule against. This won't modify any existing orders in Shopify but will let you make sure that the conditions in your rule match the appropriate orders.

We also recommend doing a "negative test." In other words, test the rule on an order that shouldn't match and confirm that it doesn't.

Once you're satisfied everything's working, it's time to click save and launch your rule.

Monitoring 

After you have a rule running for a little bit, it's good practice to check on it to make sure it's running correctly.

 We've built out the Activity Log section to make it easier to see all the actions the rules have performed. You can filter the list by either order number or rule name to track down any issues you might have.
